Has science disproved the Bible?
|The *Big Lie*
The basic reason for the modern widespread Rebellion against traditional values in every realm -- social, moral, political, educational, religious -- is the widespread lie that Biblical principles have been outdated by the discoveries of modern science.
|Guard what was committed to your trust, avoiding the profane and idle babblings and contradictions of what is falsely called knowledge -- by professing it some have strayed concerning the faith. Grace be with you. Amen. 1 Tim 6.20-21|
|The American constitution and our entire American culture were founded
upon a strong national faith in God and His Word.
The gradual undermining of confidence in the Bible, resulting from the rise of uniformitarianism and evolutionism in the nineteenth century, inevitably was followed by a revolt against the social and political institutions erected on that faith.
It is no accident that religious liberals are almost always moral and political liberals, and vice versa.
The fact is, however, that true science has always confirmed the Bible! It is not science but *scientism* (that is, the extension of the scientific theories to a supposedly complete philosophy of life and meaning) that has attacked the Bible. -->
|The "scientific method" involves experimental reproducibility
and verification. Thus science, in its proper sense, can deal only with the processes of the world as they now
exist. Science can tell us nothing _with absolute certainty_ about prehistoric events and processes. Neither
can science predict future events and processes with certainty.
Many scientists (NOT science as such, but *scientists* -- men who are just as biased, fallible, sinful and human as any other men) have assumed that these present processes are eternal processes. On this false basis, they extrapolate current laws and processes in a futile attempt to *explain* everything that ever has been or ever will be!
|Thus, *scientism* [which is NOT "science" at all] seeks
to explain the origin and development of all things in terms of present natural processes.
But this approach violates the two most fundamental laws of science, the First and Second Laws of Thermodynamics.
These two laws deal with the all-embracing entity known as "energy," which includes all the phenomena of the physical universe.
|By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible. Heb 11.3|
|In six days the LORD made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and
all that is in them, and rested the seventh day. Therefore the LORD blessed the Sabbath day and hallowed it. Ex 20.11
God's works were finished from the foundation of the world. Heb 4.3b
God is before all things, and in Him all things hold together. Col 1.17b
The Second Law [Energy Decay] might better be called *The Sin Principle*. Why? Because the death of physical life and the decay of the universe are the direct result of SIN. That's why.
God ordained death and decay because of Adam's disbelief, distrust, and lack of love, as manifested by Adam's disobedience.
|Through one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin, and so death passed on all men inasmuch as all sinned Rom 5.12|
|The Second Law expresses in a formal way the fact that something is
intrinsically wrong with the world.
Everything gets old, wears out, runs down, and finally dies. In all processes, some energy becomes degraded to low-level heat energy and can no longer be used.
Every ordered system, left to itself, tends to become disorganized. Complex structures tend to break up and become simpler.
The *Entropy* (disorder) of the Universe constantly increases. Entropy can only be superseded, locally and temporarily, if there is a supply of ordering energy brought in from outside the system.
God told Adam, "Because you have ...eaten of the tree, of which I commanded you, saying, You shall not eat of it...
O God, of old You laid the foundation of the earth. The heavens
are the work of Your hands. They shall perish, but You shall endure; yea, all of them shall become old like a garment;
like a robe You shall change them, and they shall be changed
|In the Bible, God's ordainment of *Entropy* [Second Law of Thermodynamics]
is called the "bondage of decay" under which "the whole creation groans and travails in pain."
This Second Law teaches that, unless God Himself intervenes, the universe is proceeding inexorably toward an ultimate "heat death," when all available energy will have been degraded to unusable, low-level heat and no more work can be done.
Since this state has not yet been reached, the universe is not infinitely old and thus must have had a definite beginning!
|The creation itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of decay
into the glorious liberty of the children of God. And we know that the whole creation groans and travails in pain
together until now. Rom 8.21-22
[God said...] Lift up your eyes to the heavens, and look on the earth beneath; for the heavens shall vanish away like smoke, and the earth shall become old like a garment; and its inhabitants shall die in the same way. But My salvation shall be forever, and My righteousness shall not be broken. Isa 51.6
The First Law states that, since all present processes are conservative, NOT creative, the beginning of all things required by the Second Law must have been accomplished by means of creative processes which are not now in existence.
Thus the basic framework of science, confirmed by Biblical revelation, leads us inexorably and irrefutably to the first words in God's Holy Bible -- the most awesome and mid-boggling truth ever revealed...
In the beginning God
|In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. Gen 1.1
Thus says the LORD, your Redeemer, and He who formed you from the womb: "I am the LORD, who makes all things, who stretches out the heavens all alone, who spreads abroad the earth by Myself"
For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created by Him and for Him. Col 1.16
