What did Jesus have to say about the Bible?

Navigate

Jesus said...

  • It is written, "Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.'' Mt 4.4
  • Why do you also transgress the commandment of God because of your tradition? For God commanded, saying, "Honor your father and your mother"; and, "He who curses father or mother, let him be put to death." Mt 15.3-4

Conclusion - Jesus declared that the Bible expresses God's authority and commandments for all mankind.

Jesus said...

  • Do not think that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy but to fulfill. For assuredly, I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, one jot or one tittle will by no means pass from the law till all is fulfilled. Mt 5.17-18
  • ...the Scripture cannot be broken John 10.35b

Conclusion - Jesus declared that the Bible is the imperishable and unbreakable word of God.

Jesus said...

  • Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth. Spoken to God the Father in John 17.17
  • Jesus answered and said to them, You are mistaken, not knowing the Scriptures nor the power of God. Mt 22.29

Conclusion - Jesus declared that the Bible is true and without error.

Jesus said...

  • For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of the great fish, so will the Son of Man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth. Mt 12.40
  • Have you not read that He who made them at the beginning made them male and female, and said, "For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh"? Mt 19.4-5

Conclusion - Jesus declared that the Bible is accurate, both historically and scientifically.

Jesus said...

  • But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you. John 14.26
  • When He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come. He will glorify Me, for He will take of what is Mine and declare it to you. John 16.13-14

Conclusion - Jesus certified that the New Testament is divinely inspired and infallible.
