His name is Comfort

Shortly before Jesus was crucified, He promised that He wouldn't leave us by ourselves after He went up to Heaven.

Instead of leaving us alone and helpless, Jesus sent us God the Holy Spirit...

to walk with us
to dwell in us
And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that He may abide with you for ever... for He dwelleth with you, and shall be in you. (John 14.16-17b, KJV)

Jesus spoke of Holy Spirit by a specific name.

Jesus called Him Parakleetos. (Jesus said...) Ho de Parakleetos, to Pneuma to Hagion, ho pempsei ho Pateer en too onomati mou, ekeinos humas didaxei panta kai hupomneesei humas panta ha eipon humin egoo. (John 14.26, Greek Text)

Holy Spirit's name, Parakleetos, means...

Comforter (KJV)
Helper (NKJV)
Counselor (NIV)

God the Holy Spirit -- His name is Comfort!
(Jesus said...) But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you. (John 14.26, KJV)

He is a Person

But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually as He wills. (1 Cor 12.11) Holy Spirit has will - the ability to make decisions and choices.

Now He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is... (Rom 8.27a) He has intellect -- "mind."

Then the Spirit said to Philip, "Go near and overtake this chariot.'' (Acts 8.29) He speaks.

He has sensibilities and emotions...

And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God... (Eph 4.30a)

He can be grieved

Of how much worse punishment, do you suppose, will he be thought worthy who has... insulted the Spirit of grace? (Heb 10.29a, 10.29c)

He can be insulted

Now I beg you, brethren... through the love of the Spirit (Rom 15.30a, 15.30c)

Holy Spirit is addressed as God But Peter said, "Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit... You have not lied to men but to God.'' (Acts 5.3a, 5.4b)

He is eternal. how much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God? (Heb 9.14)

He is omniscient. (Jesus said...) But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things... (John 14.26a)

For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God... Even so no one knows the things of God except the Spirit of God. (1 Cor 2.10b, 2.11b)

He is omnipotent. By His Spirit He adorned the heavens... (Job 26.13a)
