Mailbag Anonymous visitor asks two questions... Question #1- Why does a person feel empty inside when they have received the free gift of salvation? Question #2- Some Christians believe that their purpose is to worship God here on earth and spread the gospel. Is there more of a purpose than that?

Anon's Question #1 Why does a person feel empty inside when they have received the free gift of salvation?

Biblebell's Reply to Anon's Question #1 Praise God, your salvation does NOT depend on whether or not you *feel* saved. Instead, your salvation depends only on the finished work of Lord Jesus, and the unbreakable promises of God as written in His Bible. God's glorious promises concerning your salvation are summarized by the verses quoted alongside. MEMORIZE them, please.

He who believes in the Son of God has the witness in himself. He who does not believe God has made Him a liar, because he has not believed the testimony that God has given of His Son. And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life This life is in His Son. He who has the Son has life. He who does not have the Son of God does not have life. These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may KNOW that you have eternal life, and that you may continue to believe in the name of the Son of God. 1 John 5.10-13

Anon's Question #2 Some Christians believe their purpose is to worship God here on earth and spread the gospel. Is there more of a purpose than that?

Your Heavenly Father When you wonder about God's purposes for your life, remember -- you are His child . . . God is your FATHER. He is your Heavenly Parent. God BEGOT you spiritually (borned you of His Spirit, by the shed blood of His body) just as your human parents begot you physically (borned you of their bodies by the shed blood of your mother's womb). Therefore, to understand more about your Heavenly Father's purpose for you, think a little about why HUMAN parents want a child.

Earthly Moms and Dads Why do a happily married bride and groom long to be parents? Why do they ask God to grant them the gift of having a little baby son or daughter? There are MANY reasons, of course, but foremost among those reasons is LOVE . . . Parents want a child so that they can love that child, and so that their child will, in turn, love them and trust them with his or her very life. They want to express their love by caring for a helpless baby -- changing its poopy diapers in the middle of a winter's night, holding it when it is lonely, feeding it when it hungry. They want to express their love by training up their child to be a fulfilled, responsible, happy adult. They want to help their child learn. They want to comfort their child when he makes mistakes, and encourage him when he does well. They want the child as an living expression of the husband's love for his bride, and the bride's love for her husband. Bear in mind- A child is the living, breathing result of physical and emotional love between a wife and a husband.

God's purpose for you is ... LOVE The Bible tells us that God wants children for much the same reasons as human parents want children . . . God chose you to be His child so that He can love you AND ---			The LORD did not set His love on you nor choose you because you were more in number than any other people, for you were the least of all peoples; but because the LORD loves you. Deu 7.7-8a In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins. 1 John 4.10
God chose you to be His child so that you will, in turn, love Him and trust Him with your very life.			You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength. Deu 6.5 Though He slay me, yet will I trust Him. Job 13:15
God chose you to be His child not so much for what you will do for Him, but for what HE desires to do for you. As examples, God your Father will... Change your poopy spiritual diaper, even in the middle of a winter's night Hold you when you are lonely Give you spiritual food when you hunger			If we confess our sins, God is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1.9 The eternal God is your refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms Deu 33.27a As newborn babes, desire the pure milk of God's word, that you may grow thereby 1 Pet 2.2
God chose you to be His child so that He can... *Raise you* to be spiritually conformed to the perfect, glorious image of Jesus. Reward you when you do well. Chasten and comfort you when you make mistakes.			For whom God foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren. Rom 8.29 Blessed is every one who fears the LORD, who walks in His ways. When you eat the labor of your hands, you shall be happy, and it shall be well with you. Ps 128.1-2 My son, do not despise the chastening of the LORD, nor detest His correction. Whom the LORD loves He corrects, just as a father the son in whom he delights. Prov 3.11-12
God the Father chose you as His child to be... A *love gift* given unto His Son A living expression of His love for His Son, and of His Son's love for Him.			(Jesus said to His Father...) I pray for them. I do not pray for the world but for those whom You have given Me, for they are Yours. All Mine are Yours And Yours are Mine And I am glorified in them. John 17.9-10

BOTTOM LINE Read carefully John 17. Read it again. And again. And again. Meditate and pray about it. Through those verses God will speak to you of LOVE -- the love of God for you, and the eternal, infinite love between God the Father and God the Son. Ergo, God's purpose for your life can be summed up as follows... To love God To be loved by God
