To Whom He Has Revealed

"...no one knows the Son except the Father. Nor does anyone know the Father except the Son..."

  • The verse quoted alongside gives you an amazing insight about the “knowing” relationship of God the Father and the Son.
  • Only the Father fully “knows” the Son, and only the Son fully “knows” the Father.
(Jesus said...) All things have been delivered to Me by My Father, and no one knows the Son except the Father. Nor does anyone know the Father except the Son, and the one to whom the Son chooses to reveal Him. Matthew 11. 27
Think about it. You know your father, mother and siblings. How? Because you're related together and live with them. Day in and day out, you see all the situations that make them tick. All the circumstances in which they react.

Thus, it's not far-fetched that you become like your parents in some fashion. The proverbial “chip off the old block.”
At one time or another, you have probably had someone say, “You are the spitting image of your father or mother.” Have you noticed how often a child bears a striking resemblance to their parent's looks and more remarkably, their mannerisms like the little movements of the face when they speak?

Once, I saw a teenage son speak with the exact mannerism of his father sitting next to him. I was taken aback. By looking at the son, I saw the father.

Chosen by the Son
“…and the one to whom the Son chooses to reveal Him.”

  • Now this last part of Matthew 11.27 is the most awesome.
  • Jesus reveals the Glory of God to those whom He chooses.

How and why can be subject of much discussion, but why would God chose someone like you or me -- sinners who have no resemblance to Him, His Goodness, Mercy, Love?

(Jesus said...) All things have been delivered to Me by My Father, and no one knows the Son except the Father. Nor does anyone know the Father except the Son, and the one to whom the Son chooses to reveal Him. Matthew 11. 27
In Matthew 11.27, the word “reveal” comes from the Greek word apokalupto (ap-ok-al-oop'-to) to take off the cover; that is, disclose or reveal.

Apokalupto is related as the opposite to kalupto (kal-oop'-to), which means "to cover up; hide."
(Jesus said...) ...the one to whom the Son chooses to reveal <apokalupto> Him. Matthew 11. 27b
  Strong's #601 apokalupto
from 575 and 2572; to take off the cover, i.e. disclose.--reveal.
The Shekinah
In Old Testament times, the Shekinah glory of God dwelled within the innermost part of the Tabernacle behind a veil. No one could enter behind that veil except the High Priest, and even then under the strictest set of rules.
Then the cloud covered the tabernacle of meeting, and the glory of the LORD filled the tabernacle. Ex 40.34
When Moses received the Law, God's Glory shone upon him so much that he “glowed” with the heavenly radiance.   And whenever the children of Israel saw the face of Moses, that the skin of Moses' face shone, then Moses would put the veil on his face again, until he went in to speak with God. Ex 34.35
By the Father's Plan, He has revealed Himself in the Son, the One whom abided with the Father in the heavenlies. God sent His Son so that you may “see” the Father.   Philip said to Jesus, "Lord, show us the Father, and it is sufficient for us."

Jesus said to him, "Have I been with you so long, and yet you have not known Me, Philip?
He who has seen Me has seen the FatherJohn 14.8-9a
The Son Reveals the Father
The full radiance of the Father is revealed in the Son. "
He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation...For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily." Now in so doing, the Father has “revealed” Himself. He has “pulled back the covers” so to speak to reveal Himself for you to see.
He (Jesus) is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. Col 1.15

For in Him
(Jesus) dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily  Col 2.9
Notice that the verse alongside says, “...to whom the Son chooses to reveal Him.” But WHY has the Son chosen you, a sinner, to believe on Him? Why have you been chosen to have your spiritual eyes opened by His expressed revelation of the Father? Why?   (Jesus said...) All things have been delivered to Me by My Father, and no one knows the Son except the Father. Nor does anyone know the Father except the Son, and the one to whom the Son chooses to reveal Him. Matthew 11. 27
What in you would merit such favor from Lord Jesus? Nothing! For all of us have sinned. That includes you and me.

There is NO one who is righteous -- "no not one.”
As it is written. "There is none righteous, no, not one. There is none who understands. There is none who seeks after God. They have all turned aside. They have together become unprofitable. There is none who does good, no, not one." Rom 3.10-12
It is ONLY by God's amazing grace that you can begin to abide in Jesus. Jesus lives inside you! Thus you can truly know Him, through His Spirit and Word.   For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast. Eph 2.8-9
The Temple of God
In you dwells the Holy Spirit of God. Thus, you have been enabled by God to continue the work of Christ within the world -- by revealing His life in you. Imagine that! Living with Him in the fullness of the Spirit now revealed after the resurrection.
Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you? 1 Cor 3.16

I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but
Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me. Gal 2.20
You thus have become a son or daughter of God manifested to the world…known as a “Christian”...born of God.

As a result, you have become a “follower of Christ,” sanctified unto God by His indwelling Holy Spirit.
But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name. who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. John 1.12-13
Helping you to "know" Jesus, and the power of His resurrection, is the work of the Holy Spirit.

As you grow and mature in the knowledge of Christ, you gradually become more and more like Him and very likely shall endure many of the same trials that He endured.
...that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death Philipp 3.10

(Jesus said...)
But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you. John 14.26
A cross to bear
Some sermons might make it sound like your daily walk with Jesus will be a bed of roses -- nothing but health and wealth. Not so!

It is true that believing on Jesus will gain you ETERNAL life and joy in Heaven, as well as peace and purpose in this present life, BUT -- read carefully the verses alongside.

The Bible clearly teaches you that there WILL be difficult days ahead. Anyone who says differently is simply "blowing smoke."
Then Jesus said to His disciples, "If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me. Mt 16.24

(Jesus said...) These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world. John 16.33

Not only that, but we also who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, eagerly waiting for the adoption, the redemption of our body.
Rom 8.23
Conformed to His image
God has promised that He will use "all things" that impact your life -- the good, the bad, and the ugly -- so that you will daily become more and more like Jesus.
And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren. Rom 8.28-29
If you heighten your awareness that God is using life's situations in order to conform you to the glorious image of His Son, then you will reap an amazing benefit. Namely, you will gain the absolutely *supernatural ability* to do that which is commanded by the verses quoted alongside.   My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials James 1.2

...
rejoice to the extent that you partake of Christ's sufferings, that when His glory is revealed, you may also be glad with exceeding joy. 1 Pet 4.13
Second childhood
When you were a child, you mimicked your parents due to the closeness of the parent/child relationship and inheriting their DNA/genes.

As a believer in Christ, you have been "Born again." Once again you are a "child" -- a child of Almighty God, and a new creation in Christ. Now you are commanded to mimick Christ!
Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is. 1 John 3.2

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a
new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. 2 Cor 5.17
As a child of God, you are called to manifest the Father and Son to the world -- for the furtherance of the Good News of His Deliverance.

You are commanded to put off the “old man” born in Adam, and PUT ON the "new man" created in Christ. By so doing, you will reveal Jesus to the world.
Put off, concerning your former conduct, the old man which grows corrupt according to the deceitful lusts, and be renewed in the spirit of your mind, and put on the new man which was created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness. Eph 4.22-24
God's amazing plan
God's amazing plan for this age is this: Just as the Father is revealed in Jesus, so also shall Jesus be revealed in YOU!

In a small but similar way as Christ revealed the Father to you, the Father has chosen you to reveal His Son to others. But WHY? So that God shall be glorified in the earth to all mankind, in order that they might believe on His Son and be saved.
But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord. 2 Cor 3.18

For it is God who commanded light to shine out of darkness, who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.

But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellence of the power may be of God and not of us.
2 Cor 4.6-7
Still a mystery to be sure, but nevertheless, the Lord "...is not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.”   The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance. 2 Pet 3.9
Question - Fact - Question

Question- Are you one to…whom the Son has revealed…?

if so then...
(Jesus said...) All things have been delivered to Me by My Father, and no one knows the Son except the Father. Nor does anyone know the Father except the Son, and the one to whom the Son chooses to reveal Him. Matthew 11. 27
Fact- Christ IS living in you!

BUT...
I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me. Gal 2.20
Question- Are you running your life's "race" in such a way that anyone who comes to know much about you will also come to know much about Jesus?   Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us Heb 12.1
